Description island Usedom

The inhabited large island of Usedom is located in the country of Germany, Western Europe. The distance to the mainland is, quite close about 0.2 km. The surface-area of the island is 372.4 km2 and is therefore 0.981 x times greater than the island of Isle of Wight. The island lies in the Baltic Sea and the total coastal length is about 232 km and the dimensions of the island are approximately 49.5 km by 43 km (maximum width). The island is Northwest - Southeast oriented. The highest point is 69 meter and is named Golm. The coordinates (latitude, longitude) of the island (center) for GPS are 53.97 (53°58'8.9904), 13.99 (13°5'54.7404).

The population is 31500 and the population density is thus on 84.6 inhabitants per square kilometer (compared Isle of Wight 364 inhabitants / km²). The capital of the island is Usedom (located in the Southwest of the island). Other places on the island are: Zinnowitz, Karlshagen, Trassenheide, Zempin, Koserow, Kölpinsee,. The island is located in the Northeast of the country Germany. It is located in the administrative unit State Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (local administrative level-name Land), in the District Vorpommern-Greifswald (Germany) - West Pomeranian Voivodeship (Poland) (local administrative level-name Landkreis - Województwo).
The island is accessible by car (by means of ferry or bridge). The distance from Western-Europe (The Netherlands) is about 824 km. Far as is known, there are good cycling opportunities on the island.
