Description island MallorcaThe inhabited very large island of Mallorca (local name Isla de Mallorca) is part of (the island group) Balearic Islands and is located in the country of Spain, Southern Europe. The distance to the mainland is about 167.8 km. The surface-area of the island is 3624.1 km2 and is therefore 9.5 x times greater than the island of Isle of Wight. The island lies in the Balearic Sea and the total coastal length is about 559.7 km and the dimensions of the island are approximately 100 km by 70 km (maximum width). The island is West-southwest - East-northeast oriented. The highest point is 1445 meter and is named Puig Major.
